Kisarazu Cat’s Eye was a band created for the movie Kizarazu Cat’s Eye World Series (sequel of the 2002 series) consisting of the 5 main actors in the series, Seaside Bye bye is their only single. It reached #1 on the Oricon charts and sold 184,343 copies in 2006, becoming #55 single of the year. Should this be in JE? Or Japanese in general?

My thoughts

I didn’t know how this ‘band’ would sound like seeing as how 3 out of 5 aren’t singers (the other 2 are JE, sometimes that’s not a good thing either but Sakurai and Okada can sing) but they pulled it off pretty well, the people were also smart enough to only make them sing the chorus as the verses are made up of MCU’s rapping. The song immediately grabs your attention with strong string beats which turn into the catchy chorus which is not too complex but works since it’s repetitive, the actors can also sing it well. The verses are made of MCU’s rapping and it’s better than Kouki’s because it’s understandable and is relevant to the song. The softer chorus near the end of the song is my favourite part and it gets me singing “machi de BYE BYE”. Overall a GREAT song which I think suits the Kisarazu Cat’s well.

Now the B-Sides are just PURE FUN.

KISARAZU Cat’s’n Roll is a really Jazzy, swing song. There’s really no singing except for some distorted passages scattered throughout the song. The instruments are great and I love jazz and swing in the first place, thank Swing Girls. Fuutsu ga Ichiban is pretty much a country version of Cat’s’n Roll, no singing, just some blues harmonica and guitar. Not as fun as the last, reminds me of KYON’S HARE HARE YUKAI! Yakyuu Yarou ze! is another variation on Cat’s’n Roll with more singing (rapping) from presumably MCU. It’s a faster version of Fuutsu ga Ichiban: Hillbilly ROCK with more guitar.

The Better Days remix of Cat’s’n Roll is where the REAL FUN comes in. It takes parts from the original adds piano, baseball and quotes from our cast. I can really picture the cast saying all that crap while the song is playing. You probably wouldn’t like it that much if you weren’t acquainted with the series “NANDAYO!?! CATS, NYA!”

Final Judgement
5 out of 5. The A-side was really good and the B-sides have no meaning and are pointless fun. This score may be attributed to the fact that Okada and Sakurai are present but I like all of the Kisarazu crew.
