Recently, Wang released his much anticipated 12th album, Change Me (改變自己). The album was released on Friday, July 13, completely unavoiding the superstitious Friday the 13th. Through this album, Leehom promotes the issue of global warming and eco-awareness. Thus the packaging of the CD uses recycled paper and contains no plastic. Leehom believes that little changes in each person can affect the world. The CD also comes with a pair of reusable metal chopsticks in a pouch. This is also to promote eco-awareness.
Wang’s first promotional single album for the new album, “Falling Leaf Returns to Roots” (落葉歸根) gave its world premiere at Hito Radio on June 20, 2007. The music style is very different from Wang’s previous singles. Wang had said that the inspiration behind the song was due to the influence of his portrayal of Kuang Yumin in the new film, Lust, Caution. The song accompanies melodic violin and piano solos. In addition, Leehom collaborated with Selina Ren, a member of the famous Taiwan girl group S.H.E in 你是我內心的一首歌 where he approached singing in Taiwanese for the first time.
My Thoughts
The intro wasn’t exactly a song, it was a guess a explanation of the album sung. Change Myself was a VERY catchy and upbeat song. It had pop/rock rhythm in it and sounded really happy. The lyrics was quite meaningful and I think the chorus was the best and the instruments played were done well.
Falling Leaf Returns To Roots is a soft calm song and was pratically the opposite of Change Myself. Piano and violin was played most in this song but Leehom’s voice adds the ‘missing’ pieces to this song. This is another one of the slow songs on this album. Correction: this song is the slowest OF the album. It’s similiar to Falling Leaf Returns To Roots but I think I like this more for some bizarre reason that does not provide an explanation.
Our Song reminds me of this TVB themesong which I cannot recall the name. I really enjoy the instrumental bit where there’s just instruments playing for like 20 seconds and listening to this song at night can make me fall asleep because it’s very soft and nice. You are a song in my heart was the first song I listened to from this album mainly because of Selina (yes, for all the S.H.E noobs out there, she has the same name as me!/ I have the same name as her!) The MV of this clip is very 1940s and pure. Their duet together sounds really great because Selina has a soft voice and Leehom’s voice matches with Selina :) This is the first time that Leehom has sung in Taiwanese and I must say it’s quite good. So talented! One of my favourite songs from the album and I always end up singing ” Ni shi wo xin nie de yi shou ge..” I like know all the lyrics to this song now!
Where’s the love starts off with some chinese melody. Another catchy and slow song that will make you cry when you’ve broken up with someone. Well that’s what I think because of the soft, calming melody. Cockney girl is my favourite song in this album (along with You are a song in my heart) This song is fast and feels very RnB’ish. There’s this part before the chorus where a girl sings and it sounds really good and which adds emphasis to the chorus.
I really enjoy Incomplete Melody. A very soothing song and reminds me of Christina Aguilera’s song “Beautiful” at the beginning. This song has quite a few instruments playing and Leehom’s voice feels so pure and soft in this song <3 Love’s Praise feels very happy which obviously relates to the title. Another great production from this album and makes you wanna sing with the lyrics.
Long Live Chinese People feels rap-ish to me and the song sounds just so unique. I don’t know how to explain it but it’s a must listen in this album. Saturday Midnight is soft (again) yet catchy. Man this review is so long, might as well end it here.
Overall
10/10. First album that I’ve listened to from Wang Lee Hom and it leaves me a deep and great impression of him. It’s soft, catchy, alluring and basically fascinating. *Thumbs up*

Hmm…it’s hard to decide which album is better because all his albums are just so good! However, I think I like Change Me a teeny teeny bit better, I like pop better than chinese fusion type of music but Heroes of earth was still VERY good :D what about you?
no worries, I’ll comment more often on your blog!
Hey there!
I’m a fan of Wang Lee Hom, and I’m totally in love with every single track on his newest album “Change Me”. They’re all awesome!
The only problem is that I come from Argentina and I have little-to-none knowledge of the Mandarin language, and I’d really like to understand his lyrics.
Do you know where I can find the translations for his songs? I’d really appreciate it! :)
hey kangy.
Well i tried googling around and searching through sites for his english translated lyrics and this was all i came up with :
this –> this website doesn’t have alot of his songs translated but thats the best i could find ><
that –> this is for you in case you feel like having a wang leehom karaoke!
LOLS! I hate finding lyrics, thank goodness that S.H.E websites already have them so no need for that.. ><’ but sometimes some very dedicated fans sub the songs and post them on youtube if ur bothered to look around.
Thanks for the play list!!!It’s always a gift when I find them with the songs listed in English. I don’t love this as much as Heroes, but over time it has grown on me and I find myself returning it frequently. (And now my media player is correct too!!!! Which is a major accomplishment! Thanks!
jerjonji - Haha no problem, yeah leehom songs really do grow on you.
