Thoughts on Upcoming 2008 TVB series

I promised to give you guys information on what series of anticipating for the coming year so here it goes (I’m going to write about series that I know a far bit about eg plot, cast etc because half of the series that is going to be released has no information about the plot leaked out whatsoever) :

/edit As this post has caused a few people to be offended and misunderstood, i will give a warning message before i write a post that is entirely opinionated by me, myself and i only. This post intends by no means to offend anyone and/or their celebrities. The post contains self opinionated language and thoughts as shown in the title and is only read if your interested in what i’m planning to watch and can tolerate a bit harshness towards your celebrities. Yes, take it or leave it. /edit

Most excited series (no order)

  • Heart Of Greed II
As mentioned in the TVB Sales Presentation and my HOG review, it’s pretty obvious that I’m really liking Heart Of Greed. So of course i can’t wait till the sequel, I just hope it is as interesting and lives up to the hype as Heart Of Greed I.

  • Jewels Splendour/The Gem Of Life
I adore the cast, it has experienced actors and most of them are playing roles that they have never tried before, eg Linda Chung as a spoilt and b***** girl. It’s a grand production of 2008 so I’m definitely looking forward to it. A total of 80 episodes, and I’m assuming they’re only past half way done filming so I’m predicting that it would be released around July/August.

  • War Of In Laws II
Another sequel for 2008 (there’s like 7 planned for next year) and since I really enjoyed the first series, I’m excited about the sequel to it. It’s based on a designer/fashion industry (gahh FASHION <3) so anything that has to do with fashion is love. Apart from that, I think the leads are strong and hopefully won’t dissapoint me either with the script or storyline.

  • Forensic Heroes II
The plot has been leaked out already and I know whos the main leads in it and I’m quite satisfied. Forensic Heroes 1 was a hit and I totally adored it so hopefully this will continue the high ratings. Refer to here if you want some spoilers of it.

Medicore excitement (no order)

  • A Beauty Of Versatility
I’ve known about this series for quite awhile already and it was in the 2007 Sales Presentation and is STILL in pre-production T___T  It looks pretty interesting with TVBs beauties and the usual backstabbing and betrayal plot which I never seem to get sick of.
  • Suspicious Romance
I watched the sales presentation for this and I got pretty excited for this to be released because it’s a comeback series for Anita Yuen and I like how the plot revolves basically over one case and can show that betrayal do exists between lovers if this costs them to lose their life if they don’t.
  • Waking With The Enemy/Last One Standing
I haven’t seen Roger act in like a year already so I’m looking forward to this. The storyline seems engaging and from the sales presentation it looks intense and gripping.

Should I watch? Should I not? (no order)

  • Tai Chi
This is collaboration with China and I dislike many dramas from China because they lack the plot (with the exception of a few) However, most of the dramas in my medicore excitement and most anticipated section are all modern series so maybe I’ll need a dose of period action.
  • The Four Great Constables
An ancient action series with the top 4 young ‘fa dans’ in TVB. If I feel like a dose of perving then I may watch it but most probably I won’t.
  • Theives Also Have Principles/Catch me Now
Idy Chan’s comeback series. The storyline looks okay but I don’t really like the cast in it. It will be a nice change to see Damien Law acting as a baddie instead of a goody in like Drive Of Life.

What are they thinking?

  • The Most Beautiful Seventh Day
I didn’t like Under the canopy at all. It was too lovey dovey and I didn’t like the cast so for sure I’m not excited about it’s sequel. However I like how almost half the series are filmed in Japan and set in Japan which I guess provides a more ‘romantic feeling’ and this is supposedly a tragically beautiful version of Under the Canopy Of Love, however I may decide to watch the first few episodes and see how it goes
  • Hidden Master
Lame, cheap and boring. Cast is CRAP (apart from Leila) why are they getting people that can’t act as lead roles eg Matthew Ko, Kenneth Ma and Kate Tsui.
  • When A Dog Falls In Love With A Cat
Lame title and Lame storyline. Points for getting Gallen to act in this but other than that, I can’t expect anything from this. Why are they producing such boring series?
  • Ha Xue Yan’s Lady Chef
I saw the Sales Presentation and it looks so boring. Series revolving around food and family set in the anciet times? Ehh No thanks!
  • Li Hak Yung And The Thirteen Protectors
Looks pretty boring and I dislike the cast. Shirley Yeung?  No thanks! Ron Ng? Nooo! I think this is 2008 Devil’s Desiciple, the ugly hairstyles and the fighting over some spot?

What are the series you guys are looking forward to? What are the ones that you think is going to be crap?
