SNSD - Girls Generation

I know that our past few posts have been solely on SNSD besides mooray’s last post. So just bear with us for the last time! :D

1. 소녀시대(Girls’ Generation)
2. Ooh La-La!
3. Baby Baby
4. Complete
5. Kissing you
6. Merry-go-round
7. 그대를 부르면(Tears)
8. Tinkerbell
9. 7989
10. Honey(소원)
11. 다시 만난 세계(Into the new world)

So Nyeo Si Dae (SNSD, Girls Generation) is a 9 member girl band under SM Entertainment (surprised?) each from about age 17-19.They are commonly known as the girl version of Super Junior SM’s 13 member boy band. The leader of the of the group TaeYeon who is also the lead vocalist followed by Tiffany, Jessica, Sunny, Soo Young, Seo Hyun, YuRi, YoonA and Hyo Yeon (no particular order).

My thoughts:
I’ve taught myself to be more patient lately. I made myself listen to album for at least a few days before reviewing the album. I’ve listened to one SNSD song before getting their album but I wasn’t a big fan of them back then and didn’t bother to look more into their track. But better late than never! I know for sure that a lot of people’s first impression about this girl group is that they are over the top cute and act very doll like and depend on their looks to get them through the industry. Believe me! They can sing (namely Tae Yeon and Tiffany - my two favourites! coincidence?) & dance.

The opening track named after themselves ‘Girl’s Generation’ despite that I had listened to the whole album easily without skipping tracks it took me a while before this track grew on me. I love the power of the girls voice in this song, Tae Yeon’s especially. The song talks about youth etc and being independent or something like that the song has a very catchy beat. Also I love those massive shirts they wear in the MV! I’m getting one myself! LOL. Seriously.

SNSD - Girls Generation MV

Ohh-La-La! one of the songs that I still don’t like as much, it’s got a very poppy feel towards it. Not the song in general but the beat makes me think of songs like ‘Walking on Sunshine’ it’s like a happy love song type. The beat is catchy but too much pop for my liking.

Baby Baby a song that shows a more softer/angelic side of their voices. The melody is slower than the first two songs allowing their words to flow more and more enjoyable to listen to, though it’s still bubblegum pop just less and probably more enjoyable and currently one of my favourites! HAH! I can’t wait for the repackaged version! :D

Complete is definitely one of the more noticeably slow paced songs, rather being like the previous songs, their harmonizing in the chorus was beautiful and towards the end was just great. I’ve always loved the endings of songs and this song just proves it, they put much more power into singing the ending, and it just sounds better.

Kissing You excluding Tae Yeon’s ‘What If’ this would be the first official SNSD song that I have heard and I was quite surprised, of course they have just changed from a slow song to a over the top bubblegum pop again (listen to the meaning of the song!) but I enjoy this song and all the cuteness it bears if you really want a more in depth thought of what I feel – read moorays review for I agree 100% with that.

Merry-Go-Round
is for sure one of my favourite tracks on this album, though I didn’t like the opening line where they go ‘Mary take me to the merry-go-round’ but the song has a very likeable melody and the lyrics are pretty nice talking about some guy being like a merry-go-round and memories and well I keep singing this song in my head all day and bopping around to it.

Tears from the title we could all assume that this would be a more serious and possibly sad love song of such. And it is! Their harmonizing was absolutely perfect in this song giving the song more feeling and you could feel as if they were singing with depth.

Tinkerbell
this album does really take you on a rollercoaster or moods/emotions, from a soft, serious and slow song to a more happy, poppy and lovey-dovey album it’s crazy! I don’t know how many times I can comment on the perfect/angelic harmonising they truly are one of the few that have impressed me with their harmonising. There is a big notice of the toning down of the bubblegum pop so it’s not over the top, the lyrics a sweet and meaningful.

7989 ft Kangta is a song where the lead vocals take over with little use of the backup vocals or the use of SNSD harmonising. This song is pretty interesting; we hear the point of views each time the male/female takes over, still in the genre of bubblegum pop, but much slower again than the first few tracks, the melody is very soft and sweet.

Honey this song has a very catchy beat that would get you tapping along to it and unknowingly get you singing to it. The lyrics are so cute and cheesy at the same time with the you make me happy and I’m perfect for you, but overall a very enjoyable song with a very pleasing melody. LOL! Listen closely and you’ll hear them say Hwanhee! LOL

SNSD - Into the New World MV

Into the new world this song has truly become and addiction to me, it’s on replay on my computer and I’ve probably listened to this more than I have a Chinese song in one day that is. This is their debut single whilst the lyrics are talking about aiming for the best and striving etc. If you don’t care about the lyrics the beat is very catchy to me very the chorus is infectious I could just repeat that part for the whole day and not get tired.

Overall:
A very hard mark to give, But I would give them 4/5 though others would like to differ. These girls do come off as a young, teenage, striving for attention group but they are nothing like that and that is proven in their songs, their angelic harmonising, catchy beats and those just loveable songs. I swear I’ve got this whole album on repeat in my head that I would sometimes burst out singing a few words. Mooray would know about this, she hums ‘kissing you’ around me all the time well most of the time. ><’

I like second from the left outfit and the last right girl outfit. The middle girl’s shoes are funky and the other girls purple jacket and the second from the right girl’s dress all look pretty :D

the first picture, lol i like the baby baby photoshoot too, though i would prefer it if there was brighter colours, but pastel colours are still love.

LOLS! Im loving pastel colours atm and I don’t know why! roffle Sel that was a quick comment! xD But Baby Baby isn’t really a poppy sorta song. It’s slower/softer song so pastel colours should be alright for the single cover.
