The Refreshment is a repackaged version (Koreans love repackaging things don’t they) of F.T Island’s first album “Cheerful Sensibility”, review of those tracks HERE. I will only review the three extra tracks found on this album. The Refreshment came with a tonne of extras including a photobook, postcards and a special program that allows you to adjust the volume levels of an instrument in a song.
My Thoughts
Until You Return is arguably the best song out of the three new songs and one of their best songs overall. It starts off with a haunting violin solo and the melody continues to follow the aggressive yet elegant style. The lyrics are pretty corny but ahh Hong Ki’s voice! There’s a rap in the middle of this song as well paired with Jong Hun’s (!!) guitar solo and it’s great plus, it brings the whole song together.
Until You Return perf
ngawww, Won Bin messed up his rap, we (mostly Evee) still love you
It’s Love starts off on a rock note with electric guitar lines and suddenly turns into a mid tempo ballad with acoustics. A bit awkward but this is still a high quality song. It has a very memorable melody and once again, a great instrumental. The bridge is my favourite part and I feel that it would be a little uneventful without it. I actually like it the least out of the three but honestly it’s still a good song.
A Person Closer To Tears is not depressing at all despite the title. It’s the poppy song on this album (and it reminds me of a Dragon Ball song, can’t recall which though - maybe Romantic Ageru yo idk), the song is a heavy guitar pop song with a catchy melody and cute lyrics, what’s not to like?
Final Judgment
4 out of 5, they’re all good songs but the only OUTSTANDING one is Until You Return
Also, it might be worthy to mention, the packaging for this album is really great in a little box with loads of extras if you wish to fangirl over it and the program that comes with it is really fun to play around on too (hearing Hong Ki’s voice by itself -aaaahhhh- or just Jong Hun’s guitar LOL) so it’s worth a listen AND worth a buy.
