Ayumi Hamasaki - Marionette PV

Ayu onslaught! What brought it on? Not sure but I can’t believe I didn’t see the Marionette PV until now seeing as how it (and its prelude) was my favourite new song on the album GUILTY.

Marionette was not a single track from GUILTY but it was promoted and given a PV. This song can be found as track 9 (and it’s prelude as track 8) on her 9th album GUILTY.

My Thoughts
As stated above, this song IS my favourite new track from her album. It had a ballad-esque beginning and matching verses but when you reach the chorus you’ll see that it’s explosive and rock driven. Ayumi Hamasaki’s vocals are great in this song and without the factor that makes her sound annoying at times. Overall it’s an AWESOME song with a haunting melody and great climactic ending, if only more of her releases was like this.

Also, if you’re going to listen to Marionette you had better listen to the prelude as well, it’s a PERFECT introduction to the actual song and a lot of effort was put into this mere prelude. It has the same haunting vibe and doll/ puppet feeling to it, not to mention it flows perfectly into Marionette.

The PV is no different from the song. Haunting and awesome. It’s perfect for this song, title, lyrics, atmosphere, EVERYTHING, especially during the instrumental bridge and chorus re-entry… watch it. It’s a bit freaky at first but overall it was a very enjoyable PV that I can watch over and over and over again which is a rare thing to say about a PV.

Final Thoughts
Great song and a great matching PV
BOTH (and the prelude) deem a worthy 5 out of 5.

Agreed. I think she keeps getting better and better with her PVs. They [and the songs] range a lot in styles, and I love that about her.
