TO INFINITY AND BEYOND (a.k.a the obligatory one year post)

Oh look what we’ve done!

Your favourite website has reached one year old, that’s right ONE whole year. If you didn’t enter our competition YOU SUCK, you didn’t get the awesome cool prize which was by the way a voucher for Yes Asia, sucks to be you losers! Doesn’t that give you can incentive to enter next time*? Well, because you didn’t enter you can make up for it by celebrating with us!

*We sort of knew nobody was going to enter.

When I first suggested making this site a year ago I had no idea what was going on in my mind. Now when I write this pst I think, “Why didn’t I do this before?”, making a blog has got to be one of the most fun and most rewarding things I have ever done (on the internet that is), it’s also the most time wasting. I still wonder from time to time - What on earth did I do with all my free time before The Asian Invasion was born? As of late, when I’m not updating the website, watching things (to then later review ON THE WEBSITE) or doing school work I find myself bored. That’s how much The Asian Invasion has affected both my online and offline life.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way… CORNINESS ENSUES, don’t stop here, I’ll probably crack more corny lines so read ahead

Before we embarrass ourselves with further remarks let’s take a look at the stats, because well, we are indeed Asian.

Grow and populate the world with Asians, I wonder what happened in February…

Total views (As of 2008 July 01, 1:30pm EST) - 116,091
Average views per month - 9674 (compared to 2000 in the first month)
Average views per day - 318, and we used to get excited with 100, now we get close to 550 views per day, thank you google
Day with highest number of views - 679 (Monday, October 22, 2007), this is the day my Kindaichi review got linked from some torrent site lol
Post with highest number of views - Upcoming TVB series - 2007 & 2008, with an amazing 7,140 views, then there are a few on 3000/2000 views

Number of Posts - 204, hmmm, guess who made most of those
Number of comments - 905, this is still pretty good but compared to the 115000 views it’s a little undermining, I know most views are from google but comment more often guys! COMMENTS > VIEWS
Average number of comments per post - 4.4
Average number of comments per day - 2.5
Post with highest number of comments - Obviously it’s our guestbook with an awesome 109 comments but that’s a page, so it doesn’t count. You know I had to actually manually search for this myself, correct me if I’m wrong but I think it may be The X Family OST with 16 comments. Actually the most commented post is our first one - Birth of a Revolution - but that was all our comments so DISQUALIFIED **** MISCALCULATION, actual post with highest number of comments is the one about Fahrenheit’s Japanese debut because we got flamed, because I like thermometres and because we like to bring some flame back on flamers, :D

Number of reviews - 144, AWESOME amount of reviews for 1 year, I am not going into detail about who wrote all of those… because it was probably me
Number of Japan related reviews - 79
Number of China related reviews -24
Number of Korea related reviews - 23
Number of Tawain releted reviews - 18

Most clicks from this site - wikipedia page of TVB series’
Most hits from a referal - virtuesofharmony.net/blog, thank you muchly. Also we got linked from a Generic Pharmacy website, because we are ALL ABOUT razene cetirizine.
Most hits from a search engine - tvb series (2,381 hits), followed by yukan club (1,386 hits) and then hotaru no hikari (1,065 hits)

SPAM COUNT - 16,923, love you spambots

Number of posts per writer
Mooray- 102, no suprise here, I contribute half of the posts with an average of one post per 3.5 days
Selinaa- 53, our other admin with half of my posts
Evee- 28, Evee is writing a lot more now that she’s obsessed with Korea so I suspect that her post count will rise
Winterlove_000- 10, only new but she’s already tied with Gina!
Ginina- 10, post more often you ho!
Shucks, you guys don’t love the website enough!

Damn, that’s hot (no pun intended)

One last thing with stats/ meta, you know how we get lots of hits from Google? I must say that a majority of these hits are rather questionable with a few of my personal favourites:
* Is Wu Chun gay - 3 hits for some reason… and the answer is yes
* mum drunk - I hope that we were helpful?
* Asian nurse kissing - No effing idea about where this lead to
* DBSGay - may or may not be Gina
* Anime laxatives - ILU Yukan Club
* fujiki naohito gay - Answer is NO! (Only in Antique is he gay)
* “thermometer fetish” - My thermometer “fetish” came in handy!
* Asian guy kissing - We can only wish :’c … and write fanfics
So thank you google, we love you for bringing us views and for giving us irrelevant searches

Now, we are done with the stats, are you ready, are you ready, are you ready for some corny reflections?

Let’s just go writer by writer so you can get the full impact of how lame we are, besides, I’ve been babbling on about nothing for quite some time now. Let’s begin with me anyway!

Why yes, we’d love some cake Hunny, I’m so sad

Mooray
Is it sad that I think “Maybe I can review this?” everytime I see any drama, hear any song or watch any PV/ MV? Is it sad that the first website I log onto everyday is The Asian Invasion? Is it sad that I spend at least 2 hours a day fixing the smallest mistakes on this site? Yes I’m OCD about A.I.

Hello, I am one of the admins of the super-team here at the Asian Invasion, you may remember me as the girl who has too much to say and therefore posts way too much for it to be healthy. First (or not), congratulations to us for braving 1 year of blogging, I’ve tried and failed plenty of times. Sure we’ve not built a steady fellowship of readers but I’m sure that we have some lurkers around the place - SHOW YOURSELVES. Just keep reading because I’ll keep blogging as long as it remains fun and as long as I still have a lot of crap to say. Comment, flame, prosper as we brave through another year of Asians blogging about Asia!

Selinaa
This blog has got to be my greatest satisfaction. The feeling of completing a review, completing a drama, moderating comments, editing posts etc just brings a huge smile to my face :D Actually no, the fact that we’ve actually survived a whole year writing and writing about the Asian-ness in Asia, hands down, THAT is my biggest gratitude and satisfaction in the whole wide world. I remember the exactly day when I told Mooray I wanted a blog and then it was just a matter of minutes before we gathered our writers, organised and spent the next couple of days doing our “Asian Invasion business”

I’m grateful for our readers and writers, without you guys, there would be no Asian Invasion! (Just the site though, I’m sure the Asian Invasion has spread over three quarters of the world now!) And for those people that read/skim our reviews (it can be a bit long at times) COMMENT! Your comments are our source of energy to write more reviews and improve our site so I expect to see many more comments by next year and the year after and so on, I’ll see you guys someday over the rainbow Asians!

Evee
Hey there! Writer at the Asian Invasion (the best-est site alive) here. Gosh I can’t believe it! Every day when I log onto the internet and open up my Firefox page I think back about the earlier days of A.I, the days were we just laughed at the idea of the page itself or the days where we’d be so excited to get 300 views or something like that (quite sad really)! So it surprises me more that we are here today to celebrate its one year! Who would’ve thought that a blog written by a bunch of high school girls who started this blog when they were bored one school break would last this long. So props to the admins mooray & selinaa and to my fellow writers for keeping this page active. We’ve done well! To the readers who comment and don’t comment, thanks for reading! Cheers!

Ginina
Long ago (not really) here I was sitting at my computer, in my own house or having stole my cousin’s, listening to music and reading random trivia facts on the net, Mary comes on with a ‘ YOU’ on msn. Said something about helping her start a Asian review site. I go ‘ …okay then’ and this is where we are today, one year later. Still sitting in front of the computer but slightly more judgemental with what I watch. Now when I go over to Theresa’s place to go to tutor twice a week, the A.I page is usually open ( sometimes I.T) and she’s posting some random stupid post or stupid comment (like the spammer she is). When I open Opera now the A.I and I.T pages are always open somewhere near the front. I guess we’ve done somewhat of a good job since there are quite a few stalkers/loiterors around outr space. I do hope to try to do more reviews but unlike Mary and etc I dont have that much time to do reviews since I get less holidays compared to them. Well somewhere in my hardrives are 5 unfinished reviews and I will EVENTUALY get to them. Thanks to Mary , Selina and everyone else who helps keep this site aliove with reviews, views and comments. I hope once again the next year will be even better.

Winterlove_000
Happy bdaiiz! Imma wish the best for the coming year for everyone, writers and readers! And asia release more stuff otherwise we’re all jobless here ^.^ always winterlove000

We all love fan arts eh? I was just in a good mood yesterday so I drew one of the Cheerful Sensibility pics.

Talk about TL;DR! But alas, we are not finished yet (almost there though).
Continue to read so that we can be more famous and have a bigger e-penis (not that we are guys). Here’s to another year of The Asian Invasion. TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!
