I’ve had a millionaire’s first love on my list of movies to watch for some time now and after so long I finally got around to watching this movie and without a doubt I don’t regret it at all.
Synopsis:
Kang Jae-kyung is your typical spoiled rich kid; he’s arrogant, drives sporty cars, attends the big clubs, rides through school corridors on his motorcycle and – wait, that’s not typical at all is it? As his 18th birthday approaches he’s set to inherit his grandfather’s fortune, but that comes with a price. Jae-kyung is going to have to earn his fortune. His grandfather lays down an ultimatum; Jae-kyung is required to transfer to a new school in Gangwondo and graduate. Until then all access to his penthouse, cottage and credit cards is denied. Should he fail to graduate or drop out then he loses everything. With little choice he heads out to the countryside and a small town in which daily life is far removed from what he’s used to.
Shortly after settling into his new home he meets 19 year-old Choi Eun-whan, who just happened to run into him back in Seoul. They don’t exactly hit it off; he’s far too stubborn and cool for school, while she sees hope for him and sets out to make him see it for himself. As they eventually draw closer, thanks to a set of coincidences and school projects they learn more about one another, but soon a shattering revelation will change these people forever.
My Thoughts:
I got so teary so many times in this movie. The only time I’ve done that was whilst watching the Notebook. But gosh, this is definitely a must watch movie for everyone. It really comes off as a cheesy and clichéd sort of drama reading the synopsis and the overall plot (and it is) but nonetheless it was well executed movie by both actors in the movie as well as the setting of the drama.

HAHALMFAOLOLROFL!
Hyun Bin was brilliant in this movie, even though his character was yet again clichéd. We saw him as the hot headed young male at the beginning of the movie and to be quite honest I hated him then but once he began to fall in love with Eun Whan I began to feel more for him and like his character more.

LMAO – Looks like he’s giving birth!

What’s a Korean drama without a scene like this?

Such a dork!

OMG! SO CUTE ~ !
Lee Yeon Hee proves that SM doesn’t only have pretty faces considering she was fairly new when she took on this role. She stepped up to the mark and was as equally good as Hyun Bin. Her ability to portray an innocent girl without over doing it is commendable and especially her crying scenes were not too overboard with the yelling and screaming but the ones that really make you feel for the character but then you can’t forget the quirky loveable side of her that we see at the beginning of the movie.

such a typical image!

they get close once he finds out about their past. A BIT LATE!

Yet again a cliched scene same scene as him but!

Gah! These two are so adorable.
The chemistry between these two was definitely unique and they look pretty compatible imo. As their past unfolds their scenes begin to turn bittersweet and these were definitely the tear jerking scenes. There were so many cheesy lines but heck they were such tear jerkers.
Wondering why I like you. I miss you. It’s a disease.
Eun-whan: Let me sleep for 3 minutes
Jae-kyung: Sleep for 3 minutes – Only 3 minutes.
Few months later :
Jae-kyung: Choi Eun-whan it’s been for over 3 minutes
Overall: 4 out of 5.
There were still a few flaws in the drama and the overall clichéd plots made it predictable. Though the beautiful scenery, the magnificent acting, the unique chemistry and the brilliant OST added to what I thought made this movie an exceptional movie.

Hyun Bin, kekekeke
I never knew she was in SM though, she’s been in quite a few movies I’ve watched though.
Yeh, this movie was so corny but it was awesome
