Dramatic is Base Ball Bears 4th (I think) major single and was released 2007.05.16. The song Dramatic was used as the first theme song of the anime Ookikku Furikabutte (which is good, watch it!). Anyway, OoFuri made me a big fan of BBB and they’re one of my favourite bands so the song that made me love them has to be good right?

My Thoughts
BBB’s style is described as guitar rock or maybe even pop rock, all of their songs have catchy melodies and guitar riffs and Dramatic is no different. One of the reasons why I like BBB songs so much is because of Shiori’s backing vocals, they are used sparingly throughout the song and give them a bit more interest, her vocals blend very well with Koide’s.

And YES, Dramatic is definitely good. The opening guitar lines catch you attention and it’s not lost in this song especially since the chorus is so catchy and everything (vocals, instruments, guitar solo, EVERYTHING) is so great. I immediately associate this song with the anime because the lyrics are very suitable for the series. I have heard better BBB songs but this one is definitely a good one.

Tomei 26 Toki is slower than Dramatic and honestly I don’t like it very much because I thought it was generally boring, unmemorable and a pretty standard BBB song.

Yuugata Generation [Atarashii Generation ver.] (also a play on ‘you got a generation’) is also a slower song but I like it much better than Tomei 26 Toki. There’s a lot of experimenting with vocal layers and effects throughout the song and it turned out better than the other versions imo. One reason why the song is actually memorable is because the phrase ‘Yuugata Generation’ gets stuck in your head but overall it’s only above average.

Final Judgment
4 out of 5, the A-Side is great but I feel that the B-Sides lack something
